I believe that birthdays are the one day of the year when we should celebrate life to the fullest, whatever that means for you. After all, growing older is a privilege denied to many, and I don't take it for granted.
I never work on my birthday, I've made it "company policy." I usually do something just for me, like get a massage or a facial, have lunch with friends, dinner with family, etc.
I'm a January baby, so I've had my birthday already. This year I gifted myself a Surf and Yoga Retreat in an amazing location in Northland that overlooks the water, run by Wellness Retreats NZ, a client of mine. When I saw that she was running the retreat over my birthday weekend I jumped at the chance to go.
HUGE bed to myself (seriously, I could lie sideways and still fit), food cooked for me, restorative yoga, surfing, and time for me. Bliss. AND...
... I learnt to surf y'all !! Baby waves, of course, but so much fun and so good to spend so much time in the sea. I was reminded of how, as kids, my brother and I would swim off the boat, the minute we were at anchor sometimes. Sailing was a huge part of my childhood, each weekend and over the summer holidays. I spent a lot of time in the water back then, and it felt good to do so again. I'll be back
And by the way, almost any achievement in life is like that, including business, in that it starts with a vision.
So, how would you like to spend your birthday this year?
