Slow progress is still progress

I'm writing this at Auckland Airport as I wait for a flight to Christchurch to attend the ICNZB Bookkeepers Conference.

I can hardly believe that it's been a year already since the last one.

A whole year.

12 months.

365 days.

There are 2 things that come to mind about that, that I'd like to remind you about.

All of those days have flown by so fast. Cliche but true.

It's sometimes easy to feel like nothing has changed, nothing is changing, when we're head down working away each day and all we can see is the road ahead and how much is still left to do.

But a little progress is still progress and consistent small steps can add up to noticeable progress.

Today I invite you to look up and look back to where you were 12 months ago. What have you achieved? What small steps did you take that have led you to where you are today?

And then celebrate every tiny step you took to make that happen.

You are almost certainly more worthy of praise than you give yourself credit for.

It's just that we're not very good at being our own cheerleaders.

The second thing I want to remind you about today is:

Sometimes we need a coach to empower us and teach us how to get to where we want to go.

I myself have just signed up with a coach because I know this to be true.
